FAQs
Most common topics
Mybusks is the most innovative and easiest way to collect money by uploading a video showcasing your talent.
Buskers Fees: Collect Money for personal endavours: 20% of total money raised Collect Money for a chosen charity: 20% of total money raised these Fees cover the processing fees that Mybusks has to pay the payment partners.
Givers Fees: FREE for debit cards (Visa Debit/MasterCard Debit), Carte Bancaire and iDEAL 3% processing fee for credit cards
Any contributions made with a debit card have no fees attached, but contributions made with a credit card always have a 3% fee to cover processing. As an example, if someone contributes $100 with a credit card, they pay an extra $3 which goes towards processing and not the total amount raised.
For more information, please visit our Fees page.
When you create a buskie you set an initial monetary goal called your buskie goal amount Think of the buskie goal amount as your overall target—the smallest amount you have to raise to make your idea actually happen or want to raise with that specific buskie.
Pretty spiffy, right? Regardless of what type of buskie you’re running, you and your contributors work together to reach the buskie goal amount. reaching this goal is an exciting moment: now you know your objective will take place and everyone's contributions made it possible. funds are distributed straight away to the buskie organizer if it is a "Me Campaign" and if it is a "Charity Campaign" When it expires, the funds are disbursed to the nonprofit.
As you're setting your Buskie goal amount, do keep in mind that many people choose to set their buskie goal amounts to $1 when they want to collect anything and everything, regardless of how much is raised. In this scenario, you can still set a target amount that still gives your buskie a collective goal, while still charging cards as your givers contributes.
Remember, regardless of what you set your buskie goal amount at there are no limits to your buskie's potential! You can always collect well past your goal.

After your successful 'collect' or 'sell something' mybusks has expired or you've requested an early payout, the funds are automatically sent to you via direct deposit into your checking account, which usually takes:
1-2 business days in the United States, Canada, Netherlands and Australia. 2-3 banking days in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and France. All we need to know is where to send the funds, so be sure to confirm your checking account information (including your bank routing or transit number) while your buskie is active.
If you haven't set up your direct deposit yet—or need to update it—head over to the Payout Info tab. Any future payouts will be deposited into your bank account without any action on your part. If your buskie has already expired you can get the money early while continuing to collect additional funds. Click here to learn how it works. Fundraising for a nonprofit organization? The funds will be sent to the benefitting registered nonprofit via physical check 1-2 weeks after the buskie has expired. We'll default to the address listed in the Guidestar database, so please reach out to us if you want the check mailed to a different office.

Uploading and sharing
It’s easy to get your mybusks on! In fact, you can set up any mybusks in just a matter of minutes.
First, figure out what kind of mybusks you want to start. There are three different types to choose from:
Collect: pool money for an experience, purchase, gift, charity, and more. Plus it's FREE! Sell Something: sell stuff (like tickets, apparel and even commemorative koozies) using our mybusksing feature. After you’ve determined your preferred type, give it a title, brief description, mybusks amount (the minimum amount you want to raise) and add a photo or video. (Hint: mybuskss with a photo or video are five times more likely to mybusks!)
Heads up! We ask all organizers to connect their mybusks profile to their Facebook account, so that contributors know that they're giving their money to a real person. We know Facebook isn't everyone's social media “cup of tea", but it helps keep things here at mybusks legit. We want to make sure there are no fake pages here and that every user is a real person. Don't worry—we'll never author unwanted posts on your behalf, spam your Facebook or share your information. Whenever you're ready, click here to get started.
Note: As of February 15th, 2016, we will no longer send tax deductible receipts for contributions to charity / fundraising mybuskss.

Yes, for fraud prevention purposes, we require organizers to be Facebook-connected. Don't worry—we'll never post anything on your behalf or share your information.
Requiring Facebook confirms the organizer's identity as people are more likely to contribute to a real person. Remember, contributors to your mybusks don't have to login through Facebook.
Note: If you're setting up your mybusks on behalf of a business, brand, or nonprofit, we can link your mybusks to that organization's Facebook fan page instead. Just create the mybusks using your personal Facebook page and then write us with the mybusks link and your preferred Facebook page, and we'll get you set up!

Sharing your mybusks is crucial for getting the word out—and the funds in! Luckily, there are tons of ways you can share your mybusks directly from the web page. You can send an invitation to your mybusks using the 'Invite Friends' option located at top left of the page under the management tools…or use the nifty sharing tools on the right-hand side of the page to share via Twitter, Facebook and email.
Here are some other sure-fire ways to make sure your mybusks reaches as many people as possible.
Tag and invite friends.Tagging friends makes your job easier. Tag at least 3 people and increase your chances of mybusksing by an average of 75%. We'll send reminders to people who haven't joined yet plus invitees will be able to find your mybusks more conveniently. After you start a mybusks, you will see the following popup: Tag Friends on mybusks
Organizers can share their mybusks using the 'Invite Friends' option located at top left of the page under the management tools: Invite Friends on mybusks
Contributors or visitors can share a mybusks anytime by clicking the 'Tag Friends' button at the top right of the mybusks page: Tag Friends on mybusks
Send individual emails. People who get a personalized message are 88% more likely to donate, so be specific and genuine. In other words, you may not want to mass email your entire contact list. Share on Facebook. Update your status with all the details and the mybusks link and tag the friends you hope will contribute. Your contributors can share it this way as well. Create a Facebook event. These are great for parties—or any type of activity that benefits by having people hype it up beforehand. Tweet the deets. Over the course of your mybusks, use Twitter to spread the word and share updates and encourage your contributors to tweet it out. Don’t be shy about it—our mybusksing experts suggest tweeting 4-5 times a week. Send out the link. You can find the link in the URL bar of your browser. If you create a mybusks using the mobile app, you can text the link to contribute to anyone right from your phone. Call and Text. Reaching out via phone for follow-ups is useful for getting contributions from “big spenders” and stragglers that are slacking.

So you want to add an image and/or video? Ohh, you fancy huh—you're on the right track since they are proven to significantly improve your mybusks!
Photos:
If your image is being cropped, you may want to upload a photo with our ideal image size. For the best “visual effects,” use an image with a 16: 9 ratio. For example:
648 x 364,
800 x 450,
1600 x 900,
etc.
FYI, adding a photo can increase your mybusksing odds by 500%!
Video:
Videos can help you convey a more personal story if they're short, concise, and under 4 minutes. If you want to add a video, just paste your YouTube or Vimeo link in the appropriate field when setting up your mybusks. You should also know that mybusks is an officially supported fundraising site in YouTube annotations. This means that you can link straight to any mybusks in a YouTube video's notes and interactive popups—which is a great way to get any video watcher to visit your page! Just make sure to use the full URL rather than the short URL to make sure your mybusks link is displayed in all its splendor.

mybusks aims to be the world's most open platform — one that anyone could use to do anything. By building our company around the philosophy of openness and the needs of our users, we've created the most accessible crowdfunding application as well as the most powerful, flexible, and customizable crowdfunding application to date.
We love encouraging the platform to be used by anyone, for anything, however our payment processor has a few limitations on what mybusks can't be used for. Most prohibited business categories are imposed by Card Network rules or the requirements of our payment processors' banking providers or processors.

mybusks is unable to offer any official legal advice, so we recommend you check with your lawyer if you are unsure about anything related to your intellectual property. That said, in general, it's always a good idea to be clear what your mybusks contributors are getting in return for their contribution. The activity feed is one of the best and most social parts of your mybusks page! Once you get past a handful of contributors it gets really hard to determine how much each person has given. Here’s a pro tip: get 5 or 6 friends and family members to seed the mybusks with contributions before sending it out to a larger group. This way, no one will know who has given what or feel uncomfortable about having their contribution displayed.
Here’s a great example you can check out!

There’s a slight difference between adding funds collected offline to a regular mybusks and adding funds collected offline to a nonprofit mybusks—but both are totally possible.
For regular mybuskss:
Simply add up the amount of cash and checks collected and deposit the total into your bank account (or set it aside to use when the time comes). Then make an organizer contribution to the mybusks for that amount from your own account by clicking the 'Contribute' or 'Pay' button on the mybusks page. You won’t actually get charged for this amount, but it will show up in the total collected. The organizer contribution will be subtracted from your final payout. (Since it’s already in your pocket, get it?)
For nonprofit mybuskss:
If you are running a mybusks benefitting a nonprofit organization, you have two options. First, you can lower the mybusks amount by the amount of the checks you collected offline—and send the checks via physical mail to the nonprofit. Or, you can reach out to the mybuskser Happiness team using the link below to add the funds collected as "offline contributions." These will act as placeholders and count towards your mybusks amount.

Because the money you contribute to your own mybusks would go right back to your bank account (from the mybusks payout), we don’t actually charge your credit card for organizer contributions (unless it is a verified nonprofit mybusks—more on that below!). This also keeps you from paying unnecessary credit card processing fees.
Instead, your organizer contributions show up as regular contributions on the mybusks page and then are subtracted from the amount of money you receive at the end of a successful mybusks.
To make an organizer contribution, simply log into your mybusks account, visit your page, and click the ‘Contribute’ or ‘Pay’ button and follow the steps.
If you are running a nonprofit mybusks (available in the US only), you will be asked for your credit card details and you will be charged, since the money will be disbursed to the nonprofit, not you.

If you didn't reach your mybusks amount (AKA minimum fundraising goal), don’t worry! The good news is that there’s no need to issue any refunds because none of your debit or credit card contributors were charged. If a contributor paid using iDEAL, then they will automatically be refunded the full amount.
As a bit of background, when you make a credit card contribution pre-mybusks, we place a hold on your card to ensure the necessary funds are available if and when the mybusks amount is reached. If you used a debit card, this hold likely appears as a charge. These holds typically last for 7-21 days (as determined by the card issuer). If the mybusks isn't reached within the allotted timeframe, the hold falls off and those funds are returned to the card.
The even better news is that we have tons of tips for success you can use for your next mybusks here! If you still want to collect the funds raised, you can lower your mybusks amount as needed! But just remember that your contributors joined in with the original mybusks amount in place, so we'd suggest posting an update to let them know why you've lowered it.

Getting paid
If you are interested in setting up a mybusks account for your organization such as your school club or fraternity, there are two main things you need to do.
1) Connecting Facebook with mybusks
When you first create the mybusks, you can sign up with your personal Facebook account (needed for security reasons). Once you have created the mybusks, contact us (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the link to the mybusks along with the Facebook page of your Organization, and we will help swap out the ‘Facebook Verified' link on the backend.
You can then change your profile name and profile picture to reflect your organization’s name and picture. You can also update your email address in case you want to give others organizer access as well. All these changes can be made under your profile settings: https://www.mybusks.com/new/profile/edit
As a side note, if you log in with your own personal Facebook account, it will "take over" your account with your personal name and profile picture again. To avoid this, when logging into mybusks, don't use your Facebook - instead login with your email address and your mybusks password. If you forgot your mybusks password, you can easily reset it here: https://support.mybusks.com/hc/en-us/articles/205212137-I-forgot-my-mybusks-password-how-do-I-reset-it
2) Adding an Organization Bank Account
You can add bank account details on this page: https://www.mybusks.com/profile/bank/add-bank
For the first three fields, put in those of your Organization’s routing and checking account details, and for the remaining fields key in your own personal details (name, address, date of birth etc.) If your organization does not have a bank account, feel free to put your personal routing and checking account details in.

If you need your funds earlier, no problem! For 'collect' and 'sell something' mybusks types, you can receive an initial payout after mybusksing to put down a deposit on a lake house, buy supplies or cover any expenses that needs to be paid for sooner rather than later.
Just visit your page and select ‘early payout'. You'll receive the money you've collected so far in approximately one business day, and the mybusks page will remain open without any noticeable changes. You can withdraw the funds as many times as you'd like while your mybusks is active. Any remaining funds will be deposited automatically after the mybusks closes.
Remember, you need to hit the mybusks amount before you can get an early payout.

mybusks is unable to offer official tax advice, as it varies from state to state. While many organizers' circumstances would not qualify as reportable income, it's best to check with your accountant if you are unsure.

To satisfy anti-money laundering laws in Canada and the United Kingdom, we ask mybusksers in those countries for a photo of government-issued ID cards during Payout Info setup. mybusksers in other countries may be required to verify their identity after reaching certain fundraising thresholds (the thresholds vary on a case-by-case basis as determined by our payment processor). This sensitive information is securely encrypted.
We accept the following forms of ID verification:
United States: Driver's License, State-issued ID cards, Permanent Resident Card, Passport Card, Visa (sorry, we don't accept military ID cards at this time)

Contributing to a mybusks is quick, easy and oh-so fulfilling. Go to the mybusks page by clicking on the web link you received in an email, saw on Facebook or Twitter or received via text message, etc. and click the 'Contribute' or 'Pay' button. You'll be guided through the contribution flow in three easy steps. We accept credit and debit cards or iDEAL (Netherlands only) to make a contribution. If iDEAL is used, the money will be withdrawn from your bank account immediately. If the page does not mybusks, your iDEAL contribution will be refunded when the page expires. Only the mybusks organizer will be able to see your contribution amount. But, your name and picture (if applicable) will be added to the list of contributors on the mybusks page, so you’ll get acknowledgement for moving the mybusksing needle.
Using a Credit Card
If and when the mybusks amount is reached, you’ll get notified immediately and your credit card will officially be charged! We’ll also send you a payment receipt for your records.

Yes! Contributions to mybuskss benefitting registered US nonprofits in good standing with the IRS (labeled as "Verified Nonprofit" on the mybusks page) are tax-deductible.
After the mybusks closes and the funds are released to the nonprofit organization, you will receive a receipt from mybusks and our payments processor for these donations via email, as well as basic information on the nonprofit. We'd love to help you mybusks it forward.

Your card is charged once a mybusks is successful—i.e. when it reaches or surpasses the minimum fundraising goal called the mybusks amount. You will automatically get an email if and when this happens.
In the meantime, you'll see a temporary authorization in the "pending charges" section of your credit card activity when you contribute before the mybusks is reached. If it doesn't mybusks, the hold simply disappears.
If you're using a debit card, your preauthorization may appear as a charge because most debit card systems do not have a way of reflecting preauthorizations. Just know that mybusks hasn't charged your card and no money has exchanged hands—your banking system is simply "holding" that money so they can charge it later if the mybusks is successful.
If you don't recognize a charge, please call us immediately at (866) 971-2710. If you're calling outside of business hours, leave us a message and a member of our mybuskser Happiness team will call you back!

After you have paid
Yes, you can, but remember - everyone involved is counting on your contribution! But if you really need a refund, you can request one from the mybusks organizer. To message them, simply visit the mybusks page and select 'Send a Message' underneath their profile photo. Or you can find the link to contact the organizer in the confirmation email you received. The organizer will have a final say on whether or not they can issue you a refund.
Generally speaking, we cannot provide refunds once the money has been paid out to the organizer.

If you have questions about a product you purchased through a Sell Something mybusks, we suggest reaching out to the organizer directly.
Need to change your size or shipping address? No problem! The easiest thing to do is message the organizer with your requested change or question. You can reach out to the organizer directly through the mybusks page—simply click 'Send a Message' under the organizer’s name.
Tip: Check out the mybusks page description or your email receipt for the estimated ship date.

Yes, you can certainly change your payment information while the mybusks is still active. Simply contact the mybusks organizer to request that your original contribution be refunded (you can contact them directly through the mybusks page). Once it's been refunded, simply make a new contribution with a different payment method, which will then become your default. That's it!
Have more questions? Contact Us.
Rest assured we'll make sure the refund gets to you safe and sound. If the card is expired or cancelled, your new card will be credited with the refund. If you don't have a new card, the bank will usually send the refund to your bank account. If neither of these scenarios is possible, our payments processor will alert us so we can write you a check if need be. Please keep an eye on your account and let us know if you don't receive it in 4-5 business days.

When you create a mybusks, you set an initial monetary goal called your mybusks amount. Think of the mybusks amount as the gateway to your objective—the smallest amount your group has to raise to make your idea actually happen. To make things extra easy, our intuitive mybusksing feature works differently depending on the type of mybusks you create:
Collect and Fundraise: mybuskss on dollars raised
Sell Something: mybuskss on the number of items sold
Pretty spiffy, right? Regardless of what type of mybusks you’re running, you and your contributors work together to reach the mybusks amount. mybusksing is an exciting moment: now you know your objective will take place and everyone's contributions are charged. When it expires, the funds are disbursed to the organizer or nonprofit and you can get to the fun stuff.
As you're setting your mybusks amount, do keep in mind that many people choose to set their mybusks amounts to $1 when they want to collect anything and everything, regardless of how much is raised. In this scenario, you can still set a target amount that still gives your group a collective goal, while still charging cards as your group contributes.
Remember, regardless of what you set your mybusks amount or target amount at, there are no limits to your mybusksing potential! You can always collect well past your goal.

mybusks is the easiest way to collect money with your group.
Organizer Fees:
Collect Money: FREE
Fundraise: FREE
Sell Something: 2.5% of total money raised
Contributor Fees:
FREE for debit cards (Visa Debit/MasterCard Debit), Carte Bancaire and iDEAL 3% processing fee for credit cards
For the organizers, collecting money is free. mybusks takes a small percentage (2.5%) of the overall amount raised in through Sell Something mybusks pages.

Some mybusks pages are private because they’re created for specific small groups. (You wouldn’t open up your vacation or party bus to just anybody, right?) So we don’t publicly list all active mybuskss on our site. But we do feature previous successful mybuskss for mybusksspiration here.
Here are some examples:
Help Cover the Costs of Elijah Marsh's funeral (Collect)
Conan O'Brien, Team Coco, and Nick Offerman's Wood Emojis (Sell something)
Help the Jamaican Bobsled team get to Sochi! (Fundraise)
Newsfeed
We also have a live feed of public mybuskss on our home page and mobile app. Each time someone contributes to a mybusks, it gets pushed to the top. Check it out for inspiration—or even better, make a contribution to mybuskss you’re passionate about for good mybusksing karma!

Currently, we don’t accept contributions via PayPal. The funds are paid out in 1-2 business days through direct deposit. And while we love bitcoin, we haven’t integrated it yet. But just so you know, our site is PCI-compliant meaning we have bank-level security.
However, we do have a Bitcoin tip to share with you! You can actually easy "integrate" it manually into your mybusks. Simply add a link to your BTC address (e.g. Coinbase account) in the mybusks description and/or in a public update. Or even use a Bitcoin QR code as the mybusks pic or in a photo comment. As funds roll into that account, you can do the conversion yourself and add an organizer contribution to reflect that in the mybusks progress bar. Many successful mybuskss have done this. Here are a couple of examples: Stop the Struggle
Service Dogs for Children in Need
Tip: Take into account the fluctuating BTC conversion rates and be sure to convert funds right away if you’re hoping to keep the present USD value!

Profile
If you invite a friend to use mybusks for the first time, you'll both receive rewards after your friend starts and completes their first successful mybusks. The mybusks in question must also raise a certain amount of money from at least three unique contributors. The minimum mybusks value is $50 in the US, Canada, and Australia, £30 in the UK, and €30 in the Netherlands.
The rewards are $10 in the US, Canada and Australia, £5 in the UK, and €5 in the Netherlands.
We'll automatically deposit the reward(s) directly into your bank account on file within 1-2 weeks of the mybusks's expiration. This is a different payout than your mybusks funds (if you're the organizer). All we need to know is where to send the money, so head over to the banks & cards page to confirm your direct deposit details.
Ready to invite friends to start mybusksing? All you need to do is share your unique referral code by selecting the option to invite friends. You'll also be able to check on the status of past invites here.
You can receive up to $500 (USD, CAD, and AUD), £250, or €250 in referral rewards, so the more friends you invite to mybusks with us, the merrier!
Remember, the referral program is to help your friends get mybusksed. mybusks reserves the right to suspend your account and revoke any referral credits if they were earned against our terms. By participating in the referral program, you agree to be bound by our referral program terms, so please read them carefully.

Ooohh, mysterious! Yes, you can make an anonymous contribution by following these steps:
Create an account using your email only (instead of using the Facebook login option).
Enter your name as 'Anonymous Contributor' and then contribute to the mybusks.
If you want to change how your name appears after contributing, simply click on 'Settings' on the top right of the page and re-enter your name as 'Anonymous Contributor'. It will sometimes take a few hours for the contribution feed to re-run, so if your name doesn't change immediately, just give it a little time.
Note: your email will still be visible to the mybusks organizer, so if you want to be completely anonymous, you'll have to sign up with an anonymous email address.

When a fellow mybuskser is interested in your activity—the public mybuskss you create and contribute to—they can follow you. Take this as a compliment; it means they like your ideas and might even give you money!
When someone starts to follow you, you’ll get an email notification. If you’re so inclined, follow them back! Going forward, any time you start a new public mybusks, your followers will get an email notification (or a push notification if they are using our app), too. Don't worry—they can't and won’t see any of your private activity.
Same deal goes for people you follow: Whenever they start a new public mybusks, you’ll get an email notification or a push notification on the mybusks app. So it’s a great way to keep up with your friends’ (and the other people you are interested in’s) activity.
All of this instant outreach is amazing for helping everyone reach their funding goals faster. The more followers you have—and the more people you follow—the more efficient and proficient your mybusksing action is.
If you're overwhelmed with the number of people following you (you must be really popular!), you can turn off the email notifications in your account settings here.
Remember, birds of a feather mybusks together—so go get your follow on!

If you're an organizer of a mybusks, you may have to contact us to receive your money after you deactivate your mybusks account.
